Experienced Purchasing Agent with Manufacturing/Industrial Experience Needed!

Salary Range: $43,000 -$61,000

Full-time, M-F, office hours 7am-4pm.

SUMMARY:

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for identifying and procuring the goods and services required to support recycling/manufacturing operations, including working with the Inventory Coordinator and staff to identify the material needs of the organization, finding service providers, negotiating prices and arranging delivery of the goods. This person is also responsible for assisting in managing appropriate inventory for necessary supplies and materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/ or Experience: High school diploma or GED required. AA Degree preferred, or one to three years related experience, and/or training, or equivalent combination or education and experience required. Intermediate level computer experience required. Industrial / heavy equipment, parts purchasing experience a plus. Experience with Limble software or similar preferred.
  • Language and Communication Skills: Ability to read, write and interpret in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Physical Demands: “Minor”: Must be able to exert up to 10lbs of force occasionally, or up to 5lbs of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires one or more hours of standing or walking in an eight-hour day. Sitting for long periods is required. Stooping and bending required occasionally. Must be able to see, listen and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Work Environment: Working indoors with occasional outdoor work in potential poor climate conditions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
  • Review submittal data to ensure proposed items fully meet requirements and specifications.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers/vendors based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distributions capabilities, reputation and history.
  • Evaluate and monitor contract and vendor performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.
  • Searches inventory records/ Limble or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity.
  • Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance and inventories.
  • Reconcile purchase orders with invoices.
  • Assist in resolving issues and conflicts related to vendor activities.
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices and review with CEO, VP, GM, other management and/or accountant when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications with office staff, supervisors, vendors, suppliers and all other parties needing assistance with supplies and/or procurement.
  • Oversee and support employee uniform deliveries, returns and invoices.
  • Assign and track two-way radios with Inventory Coordinator.
  • Cross train in Maintenance work order tracking system: Limble.
  • Assist accountant with invoices.
  • Production inventory record keeping.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designated manager.
