Rate for Plant Support Technicians I or II: $18.00 to $22.00/ hour based on years of experience

SUMMARY:
The Plant Support Tech is responsible for preventive maintenance to ensure all stationary equipment is operating and safe, to meet production objectives. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance including greasing, changing filters, maintaining the oil/water separator, cleaning a/c coils and other maintenance as assigned.

- Education and/ or Experience: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), two or more years related experience, and/or training, or equivalent combination or education and experience required. Minimum 2-3 years experience with tools, maintenance of conveyor equipment, required. Knowledge of industrial safety (OSHA and EPA regulations.) Previous recycling or metals experience a plus.
- Language and Communication Skills: Ability to read, write and interpret in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Valid Driver’s License required.
- Physical Demands: “Moderate” up to 40lbs of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Standing or walking required often. Stooping and bending required frequently. Must be able to see, listen and respond to dangerous situations.
- Work Environment: Usually working outdoors with occasional work indoors or working in various weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts preventive maintenance service of stationary equipment.
- Maintain greasing on schedule, changing filters, maintain the oil/water separator, clean a/c coils
- Assist with aspects of welding and general mechanics.
- Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Complies with OSHA safety and health rules.
- Equipment to include: Auto Shredder including Non-Ferrous Shredder Downstream, Baler..
- Prepares and performs mechanic duties including, but not limited to, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance checks.
- Operate skid steer and/or forklift to assist with duties as needed.
- Assist in the regular cleanup of the maintenance area.
- Wear proper safety equipment.
- Must provide basic hand tools.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designated manager.
